Theoretical NoteInterpreting Moderate Effects in Interpersonal ViolenceMental Health Centre, Penetanguishene, Canada
Mental Health Centre, Penetanguishene, Canada In research on the correlates of interpersonal violence, moderate and small associations are ubiquitous. This note demonstrates that such effects can be the result of a very small minority exhibiting extreme values and high association on the correlated variables. Empirical and theoretical implications of this possibility are discussed.
